CASE INFORMATION

Mary Susan Humphrey was last seen on Friday, May 30, 1980. Humphrey was in Valdosta Georgia leaving Greg’s, a popular night club in the 80’s with a male she met at the club. Humphrey and the male traveled back to his apartment located on Forrest Street in Valdosta. The man told the police that Humphrey left at around 3 AM and walked toward Forrest Street near Park Avenue.


On Sunday, June 15, 1980, Humphrey’s body was discovered 50 feet off a dirt road, then called Old Willacoochee Road, now called Double Bridge Road in Berrien County.

The investigation led to the arrest of Humphrey’s former boyfriend. However, her boyfriend was tried and acquitted by a Berrien County Jury on October 10, 1980.


Humphrey was born in Lenexa, Kansas and was an air traffic controller who lived off the base near Walker’s Crossing. She was stationed at Moody Air Force Base.
