DISCOVERED: Friday January 18, 2013

CASE INFORMATION

Edith Carole Sheffield was a mother and grandmother. She worked as a bank teller in South Georgia’s Coffee County and was a frequent churchgoer.

Coffee County 911 received a call about a house fire at the residence of Timothy Larue and Edith Sheffield at Bowens Mill Road near Broxton, Georgia. A body was discovered in the debris. By using dental records, it was found that it was Edith Sheffield’s body and that she was shot multiple times in the head. The house was then set on fire to rid the perpetrator’s evidence.

The husband of Edith, Timothy Larue, was brought into questioning and was investigated but was never charged. Larue has denied any involvement in the death of his wife.
